Family Day 2015

“One Goal, One Community, One Family”

Different words that when used together would make up a very powerful statement. And this was the exact theme used by Little Harvard Academy during their very first FAMILY DAY for the Academic Year 2015 2016.

Dated 31st of July, 2015, Friday, the event was scheduled at around 9 o’clock in the morning up to 12 noon. For this event, the staff decided to have a minimalist look so they just made the decorations plain and simple. The highlights were just the family pictures of each pupil posted on different areas of the school and of course the artworks of the Little Crimsons.

The families are divided into two teams blue team and yellow team led by Teacher Demi and Teacher Kriszy respectively. 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the activity, families started to come at school. They were wearing tops according to the team color assigned to them. Once they arrived, they were asked to register on the first floor where Nurse Nicole provided them with their respective sticker names, team sticker bands and their photobooth stubs. They were assisted by Ate Abby and Ate Mhel after registration to proceed to the 2nd floor hallway where they had their chance to showcase their beautiful smiles in LHA’s very own photobooth. Several props were prepared by the staff so that each family can also use it for each shot. The families had 3 photobooth stubs to use the whole day.

After the photobooth, families were asked to proceed to the Activity Area on the 3rd floor where each family has seen the hard work of each kid since all artworks were displayed inside the area.  The Activity Area looked like a museum of beautiful creations made by the little artistic hands of the kids. At around 9:30 AM, the attendance was already complete hence the program started early.

With the opening prayer led by Daddy Gail and Mommy Sab of Summer from N2, the program officially started. It marked the beginning of fun filled event. Then Ms. Katherine Chua gave her opening remarks to welcome everyone. After delivering her short but very meaningful message, the kids have prepared an interpretation of the song “I Can”. The kids practiced it for weeks and everything is worth it. After the kids’ presentation, an ice breaker followed.

The Master of Ceremonies for that day was no other than Teacher Grace. She explained the ice breaker of the day and that was the “Who’s who?” The staff has prepared beforehand a sketch of each kid’s body figure which the kids have hand - painted themselves and it was posted on the walls during the event.

The parents must guess which body figure was their own kid. They were given the name of their child which they were asked to stick on the body and the mystery was revealed towards the end.

After the parents guessed who their child among the body figures is, the first two games were already played. The 1st game was entitled “Everybody went to the Market” which was based on the famous “Maria went to the market.” For this game, the kids must be with one adult. There were four stations where they were asked to do certain task on each that really challenged the speed and cooperation of each team. Game 2 was another relay game known as the “Calamansi Relay.” Again, the kids were partnered with one adult but this time the adults had no participation other than just assisting their kids not to let the calamansi fall from the spoon. Everyone had fun and they were all really competitive. The small space was not able to hinder everyone from enjoying the games. For Game 1, the YELLOW team won because of their fast strategy of putting on and taking off of all the props but the BLUE team did their best during Game 2 which made them the winner of the game.

After the tiring yet fun games, everyone had a 20 minute break. Adults and kids filled their hungry tummies with the yummy snack food brought by each family to energize them for the next part of the program. The program resumed after everyone had settled down. Just to give them time to relax, an AVP prepared by the staff was shown to everyone. It showcased the activities of the kids starting from the month of June up to the latest possible date before the Family Day. The families of each kid were all smiling seeing their little ones having fun at school. Furthermore, the kids were also very happy to see themselves on the screen.

The AVP just showed everyone how LHA community became the 2nd home for the kids. Game 3 and Game 4 followed after the AVP. This time, both games were not played according to teams but by families. Game 3 was the paper dance which was entitled “My First Dance.” This game made everyone laugh as they watch all the parents and guardians doing all their best not to be out of the game by. Parents and guardians were all having that “game face on mode.  It’s very obvious that not only the kids were having fun but also the adults. For this game, there were 2 declared winners since both tandems were really good in balancing and strategy making. They were Mommy Ange of Yvonne from N1 and Tita Kathleen of Elijah from N2. For the last game, only adults were asked to play since this was quite confusing. The game was known as “Siopao, Siomai, Suman” which was basically based on the rules of “Hep Hep Hooray!” The audience had fun watching the players babbling and stuttering. It was a last man standing type of game and the winner was Papa RC of Charlize from N2. To conclude the program, Teacher Grace delivered her closing remarks and the big mystery was revealed as to whether the parents were correct in guessing which body figure their kid was. Also, a special award of “Early Bird” was given to Helaina’s family of N1.

The event was very fun according to the participants. Everyone went home with all smiles and the kids were given their loot bags. Though we had a very limited time and space, we were still able to have fun and work as one team and most especially as one family. Therefore LHA staff together with the kids and their respective families was able to work on the mentioned theme of the event One Goal, One community, One Family.

Again, on behalf of all the LHA staff, I would like to thank everyone who participated during the event. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you our dearest parents and guardians. We are so glad that we were able to meet all of you on a very special event. Hopefully, this day would just mark the beautiful beginnings this year. May each member of LHA family - teachers, staff, kids, parents and guardians would work positively for the solidarity and camaraderie among everyone. May this event help everybody to work as ONE.

Fire Safety Day 2015

Firemen demonstrating the sturdiness of their hat

What a wonderful, exciting day at Little Harvard Academy! On July 3, 2015 at exactly 9:30 in the morning, Little Harvard Academy held its first FIRE SAFETY DAY. The students started the day by making their fire hat. A group of firefighters from Quezon City Firefighters Volunteer Association came to visit and taught us things to do in case of fire. They were able to show us the clothes they wear and the gears they use when they attend to emergencies including fires, road accidents, flood and of course when they rescue people who need their help.
  let's try putting it on!

The kids enjoyed taking pictures while holding the big hose assisted by the fire fighters. They also had a chance to ride the fire truck. The kids were able to watch videos about safety tips in case of fire.

Career Day 2015

On the 26th of June, year 2015 marks the beginning of our Little Crimsons’ dreams. Little Harvard Academy had its very first culminating activity of the academic year 2015  2016, the Career Day. For today, the kids had their themed wash day and they were asked to show their preferred profession when they grow up through dressing up. One wants to be a chef while another wants to be a basketball player. The girls are aspiring doctors and last but not the least, one wants to be Superman someday.

As part of their preparation, the kids practiced their song and dance presentation for the whole week. They really had fun showing off their chosen career. As young kids, they really have those great ambitions in mind. Parents of Little Harvard Academy students were also very supportive of their child’s “career” by providing their wonderful costumes complete with props. Videos of their short statements were also recorded. Afterwards, they showed their talents through their action song “IF I Were a Butterfly.”

“Little Kids, Big Dreams”, that is totally our motto of the day. May the kids live up to their dream and LHA knows that each one of them will be able to reach whatever they dream of because of their greatness and courage.

Project Mom

“ Oh, while I was  busy with the event, my little boy M was busy doing his own craft. Little Harvard Academy Ph  was there to entertain the kiddos. :D” – Ma’am Cessa (http://3yearsyounger.blogspot.com/)

“And while I was busy taking photos and making chika with the other moms, I was thankful that there's the Little Harvard Academy booth where Y spent all afternoon doing arts and crafts! Thank you Teacher Katherine for entertaining Y. Heehee!” – Ma’am Cai Sio (http://www.applesanddumplings.com/)

“Little Harvard Academy where Anika had so much fun with the nice teachers and the sand art. She wouldn’t stop talking about it!” – Ma’am Fleur (http://www.mommyfleur.com/)

Here were just some beautiful words straight from the mommies who have witnessed the passion for kids Little Harvard Academy has. Want to know where they coming from? Here’s the story…

Over a number of partners and sponsors who have joined the recent month – long mother’s day celebration of Project Mom featuring Ms. Amanda Griffin – Jacob and Ms. Bianca Araneta – Elizalde, Little Harvard Academy from Quezon City was asked to be in charge of all the kiddie activities throughout the duration of the program.

Last April 11th, Project Mom had their media launch at Avida Showroom in Glorietta 4, Makati where they tackled the list of the activities for their month – long celebration of one of the most important days in a mother’s life. Little Harvard Academy (LHA) had already impressed all the invited people from the media, other major partner companies, organizers and most especially, the privileged moms who have attended the said launch because of their outstanding service and care for the kids. Moms who have brought their kids to the event had no worries because LHA made sure that it will be a stress – free day for them. They have provided fun activities for all kids and kid at hearts such as paper string art, art tissue and sand – art. Everyone had fun and the kids made their parents proud of their finished artworks. Everyone went home with a big smile and accomplished self. And since hard work really pays off, LHA was once again invited to become part of the whole month program of Project Mom.

we are all very happy with our string art!

It officially started last 17th of April still in Glorietta 4, when bazaar stalls were already available to the public. LHA had their place as well to give activities again to the kids of family mall – goers during weekend. LHA was up to provide the art activities to kids of different ages during Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. Art activities were ranging from Php 75.00 to Php 200.00 depending on the materials to be used. This was in partnership with Coloyou Philippines who provided the art materials needed for every activity. Who says no one can enjoy in a low budget? Well, that was not the case for all the kids that LHA had taken care of for 4 weekends.

Yes! Sunday is art day!

like and share us!

The Project Mom Event concluded their program on Mother’s Day itself, May 10th, Sunday in the activity center of Glorietta 5. Around 100 moms were invited to attend the big event. Several loot bags, raffle prizes and lots of learning were given to them. Several moms brought their little boys and girls to the event instead of leaving them at home, but again, it was a stress – free afternoon since LHA helped in making their little ones busy, busy having fun and using their creative juices. The program proper started around 2 in the afternoon up to 5:00pm. But guess what? LHA was already open to serve kids at around 11am. Many kids were really very excited to avail the art activities that teachers and owners of LHA had to close for a while to restock all materials. That’s how exaggerated kids love to do activities LHA had to offer. All mommies were really happy seeing their “bulilits” enjoy the whole afternoon. Some kids even came back for another activity. And yes, some mommies and daddies even tried to do the activity with their young ones. What a beautiful family bonding it is, right? Art activities got a little bit messy, but we all know kids love being messy. After everything, Little Harvard Academy had just proved that they are really capable of handling kids. They are not just about art activities; they also offer a lot more fun and exciting things for all the kids out there. Enroll your kids now and see what we are talking about. Witness the difference at Little Harvard Academy, Leading High Achievers.

Zumba and Hip Hop for Kids 2015

Yes, you heard it right! Aside from arts and crafts class, also offered 10 sessions of Zumba and Hip-hop dancing for kids. This is part of LHA’s summer enrichment classes that started last April 6, 2015. LHA intentionally hired a certified Zumba Instructor for kids from Slimmer’s World, Mr. Mark Valderama to ensure that the kids will achieve maximum benefits from the program while having fun doing games and playing with other kids.

Music has a great impact on every dancer and it goes the same for kids. Teacher Mark would teach them the first few steps but when the kids heard the music, they all get excited, jumps, and ask the teacher to teach them more steps. Songs and smash selections from Pitbull, Bruno Mars and a few more artists comprise the class song. After days of practicing for the culminating activity, all the kids did a great job with all their costumes while bidding their goodbyes. A bittersweet ending with such wonderful memories.

Let's Do Arts and Crafts at Little Harvard Academy

Last April 6, 2015, Little Harvard Academy officially opened their summer enrichment classes for school year 2015-2016. They offered 8 sessions of arts and crafts class accommodating 2 to 8 year old kids. With the low teacher-student ratio, parents are assured their kids are receiving equal attention and assistance during classes.

The kids did a lot of exciting activities, varying from making their own finger painting activities to making window decorations, and tape resist activities that they surely enjoyed doing. For their final activity, the kids made a special sand art gift for their moms in partnership with Coloyou Philippines for Mother’s Day Celebration. Moms loved their gifts after seeing such colorful masterpiece made with love from their kid’s little hands. Who wouldn’t post it on their social media accounts and offices if it wasn’t so adorable?
