Earthquake and Fire Drill

Earthquake and Fire Drill
PLAN.PRACTICE.PREPARE

The Little Harvard Academy had its earthquake and fire drill last July 14th and August 1st 2017 respectively. These are done to prepare the students from any unlikely circumstances. The earthquake drill aims to teach the students what to do during a real earthquake and they need to do the drop, cover and hold procedure. After doing so, the students fall in line and walk down the stairs to vacate the school under the supervision of their teacher. The toddlers were the first to evacuate the school followed by the Nursery 1, Nursery II and Pre-Kinder, Once they are in an open area, the teacher then did a head count to make sure the little crimsons are complete and safe. The same procedures took place during the fire drill. As soon as the bell rang, the students, along with their teachers fall in line and went out to the building near the school where it is safe. After each drill, everyone went back to the school building and the teachers make sure all the kids are back in the building safe and sound.

Who Am I?

Last July 21, 2017, we had a culminating activity for our very first school theme: “Who Am I”. The Little Crimsons spent their first month of school learning all about themselves: their bodies, their names, and so much more!

The day started off with the students looking for their mini-me dolls and dressing them up in uniforms and shoes. Then we had a visit from our cardboard friend Bob, who needed our help in assembling his scattered body parts. The Little Crimsons were willing and very happy to work together to help identify his body parts and place them in the correct order. They also turned paper bags into beautiful puppet creations and had a great time playing pretend with their friends. Everyone went home full of fond memories and with lots of new friends!

Field Trip 2017

Last January 17, 2017 we had our Manila Ocean Park field trip. All the Little Crimsons were so excited and full of energy.  We arrived in the place as scheduled.  Our first stop was the “Jellies Exhibit”.  The Little Crimsons were amazed to see the different glow-in-the-dark jelly fish.  Our next stop is the scary “Creepy Crawlers”.  The Little Crimsons were able to see various kinds of frogs, spiders, insects, lizards, as well as different kinds of colored snakes.  But the highlight was the huge python where some of my little friends got scared.  Then we proceeded to the “Sea Lion Show” and our little Crimsons were able to rest and have some snacks.  Of course, they enjoyed watching the two sea lions waving and saluting at them.  After which we had an up-close and personal encounter with the stingray.  The children were able to touch and pat a real life stingray.  Of course, the day will not be complete without the Oceanarium.  The children marveled at the sight of all the different marine life while walking through a tunnel-like glass aquarium.   Next was the “Trails to Antarctica” where we saw the cute and lovable penguins walking and swimming.  Imagine, penguins in a tropical country!!!  Our last stop was the Yexel Toy Musuem.  Our Little Crimsons had a blast playing in the snow and taking pictures with Minions that were as tall as them.

And as always, we ended the day with fun-filled experiences and precious memories.

Christmas 2016

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

‘Tis the season to be jolly! The little crimsons ended the year with a blast as they celebrated their Christmas party. The kids played different games such as trip to Bethlehem, candy cane hunt, pass the candy and frozen little crimsons. They also exchanged gifts with each other. It was truly a fun and exciting experience for the kids.

To spend a more meaningful Christmas, the little crimsons together with their parents also helped in donating gifts and other goods to the children of House of Refuge Foundation Inc.  Teacher Judy, Teacher Kriszy and Teacher Yanah delivered the gifts to the orphanage. Genuine happiness radiated through the eyes and smiles of the children.

It was a very heartwarming activity that brought joy not only to these children but also to the teachers of Little Harvard Academy.

Little Harvard Academy Family Day 2017

The Little Crimsons together with their parents and LHA faculty and staff celebrated Family Day through the first ever LHA Olympics in the year 2017. The families were divided into three teams. They were pink, blue, and yellow that signifies the colors of Little Harvard Academy. Four games were prepared to be played by the teams namely, pick me up relay, pictionary, newspaper dance, and last but not the least the 3 legged race.

Each team were competitive and did their best to win the games. In the end the pink team won third place, yellow team won second place, and the blue team was the overall champion. Sportsmanship and teamwork prevailed, but the most important thing is that the families got to spend quality time with each other and as for the bonus they gained some new friends.

Little Crimsons, Travelling and Saving the World.

A month long preparation has been done by our Little Crimsons for our United Nations last October 25, 2016. They recited “Trees” by Joyce Kilmer and performed 3 songs of “It’s a Small World”, “Count on Me” and “If I were a Butterfly”. Now, they really need those days just to make everything perfect and playful.

Our Little Crimsons’ costumes were incredibly prepared when we all see them on the event. They gave us “Wow’s” and awe on how they brought their costumes in an audience. Even if some are struggling because of some props, they were very patient for their turns to get on the stage. For additional entertainment, our event were hosted by Mr. Amiel and Teacher Janet. How was their hosting skills, can they start their own talk show? Haha!

We awarded some of our Little Crimsons for their great display of their costumes and for impressing all of us on how they delivered the elocution piece well.
We hope all our parents enjoyed our program and help us all keep our Little Crimsons be healthy and eat our “superfood!”

Our adorable Little Crimsons as cute as ever especially in different costumes.

October 15, 2016 Open House

Last October 15, 2016, Little Harvard Academy held on open house with a galactic theme- Superheroes. As preparation, the children made colorful wrist cuffs, masks, and capes as part of their art work headed by Teacher Yanah. LHA was decorated with child size stand up heroes which also served as favorite photo ops spots for the kids and their parents. Familiar call-outs adorned the walls, reminiscent of comic books of the past.

Teacher Kriszy gathered the children for a storytelling session entitled “Pajama Girl“—a girl who also became a superhero in her dream. For emphasis, Teacher Kriszy drove home the point that we can’t all be superheroes but we can be a little hero in our own way; doing not the big things like saving the universe, but doing our part to make our world a better place to live in. Small acts such as being kind to others, picking up our trash, and taking care of the environment make us a real-life superhero.
